Asking an interior designer if they have a favourite project is not always an easy question for them to answer, but the year-long refurbishment of a Grade II listed manor house in Hertfordshire is one of Jenny’s most engaging projects.
Dating from the 18th century, set in acres of rolling, manicured grounds, complete with its own fish-filled lake, the refurbishments to Bayford Grange included a cinema, music room, large orangery, pool house and separate staff buildings. “Jenny Junior Interiors worked closely with the delightful owners, the architect, the project managers, the builders and the specialist trades from the very start, a true team-based project.
The entire property was refurbished, with great care taken to ensure that the décor, fittings and furniture complemented the period features and grandeur of one of Hertfordshire’s historic Great Houses. Period-correct paint, rich fabrics and sympathetic lighting solutions were combined to define the ambience of each room, achieving the ambition of the owners to restore the house to former glory whilst bringing some of their own personality and ideas to the overall design scheme.
A monumental project indeed, but a fine result delivered by a professional team who stayed focussed on the brief
